Sell My Van Today buys vans directly from sellers across the West Midlands and surrounding areas. We are the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

When you use our quote or contact forms we collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number (and WhatsApp number if you message us)
• Your postcode
• Your vehicle registration, mileage, condition and any notes you give us
• Your email address, if you provide one
• Photos of the van, if you choose to send them

Using your registration we also retrieve publicly available vehicle data from the DVLA and DVSA (make, model, year, fuel, colour, MOT and tax status). We do not collect payment card details through this website.

• To value your van and give you a firm offer
• To contact you about that offer by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email
• To arrange collection and payment if you accept
• To keep records of vehicles we buy, as required by law
• To improve how we price vans

Our lawful bases are: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing that contract, our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and legal obligations relating to vehicle trading.

We never sell your data. We share it only with providers who help us operate:

• Twilio — to send you and our team SMS alerts about your quote
• Our email provider — to send quote confirmations and internal alerts
• Our hosting and database provider — to store your enquiry securely
• DVLA / DVSA — we send your registration to retrieve vehicle data
• The DVLA and, where relevant, insurers or authorities, when we buy your van and are legally required to report the change of keeper

Enquiries that do not lead to a sale are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up and improve our pricing. Records of vans we actually buy are kept for 6 years to meet tax and vehicle-trading obligations. You can ask us to delete your data sooner.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Have your data erased where we have no ongoing legal reason to keep it
• Restrict or object to how we use it, including marketing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent
